I’ve been growing
my aggression bone,
feeding it with calcium supplements
and the souls
of our unborn children.
Filling in the holes
in the marrow of my
self-bowed backbone,
and living out, in my dreams,
all our goals
set so high that we couldn’t
even propose,
my efforts to fly leading only
to broken bones.
Your sticks and stones
my houses and homes
your emotional loans
my aggression bone
being the interest I collect
on your forever delinquent debt.
